In brief: Several ways
Change his body position from lying on his back, to his side, and to his stomach; to decrease risk of loss of muscle tone tell him to avoid alcohol, muscle relaxants, sleeping pills prior to bedtime; to improve his nasal breathing have him use breathe right strips, oral decongestants, and otc nasal decongestants (use for 5 days max).
He should then see an ENT specialist for a full evaluation.

In brief: Stop Snoring
There are many approaches to help lessen snoring.
Sleeping with the head elevated, sleeping on the side, avoiding alcohol before bedtime, treating nasal congestion, sleeping with a snoring mouthpiece, all are helpful. Most importantly, in most people -- weight loss. Go see my review at: http://www.Twinlakesent.Com/snoring.Html.
