In brief: Influenza

The infection from the flu can last longer than most other viral infections but it is different in every individual.
Hopefully your doctor gave your baby tamiflu (oseltamivir) to help treat the illness and thereby shorten the duration. It still takes close monitoring of young patients for any complications.

It's generally accepted that for a child who is non-toxic appearing and there's a source of the fever - such as the flu - a fever may last up to 5 days. After that time, if fever persists, you will need a follow up with the pediatrician to see if there are signs or symptoms of a secondary infection.
