I don’t have insurance, is there a way I can get STD testing for free or cheap?

In brief: Yes.
Many cities have "std clinics" that offer free or low cost testing.
Planned parenthood does as well. Federally qualified health centers are low cost places to get medical care (including std testing). Usually it takes some google searching. If you wanted to bypass a clinic directly, there are numerous websites that offer std testing for about $150. (privatemdlabs.Com, stdtestexpress.Com).

But finding a good FQHC or county clinic where they can get you established with a regular doctor is your best bet for the long run.

In brief: Health Dept
Yes - call your local health department and inquire as to what services they have for you.
There are also likely some free clinics that offer std testing somewhere near you. Most communities have some services that will be able to help you.
