In brief: It could

Naproxen sodium (naprosyn) is a nonsteroid antiinflammatory (NSAID) medication.
It can be helpful for many pains. Certainly neck pain can be helped. If it isn't consider getting it looked at.

In brief: See below

Neck pain usually comes from a degenerative joint or disc in the neck.
Sometimes it's from a muscle strain or sprain. Early treatment options include a short course of nsaids (advil, aleve, (naproxen) Naproxen), gentle massage, moist heat, and focusing on posture. If pain lasts greater than 2 weeks see your physician.

Lower dose of Naproxen found in Aleve can help a lot of people with less GI Side effects then the full 500 mg twice a day.

In brief: Beneficial

Naproxen or other NSAID's can help remove symptoms of neck pain and stiffness, but do not cure the underlying cause.
Persistent or worsening neck pain, especially if associated with pain down arm or numbness and/or weakness does require medical attention.
