In brief: Think about it
Bipolar disorder is a neurobiological problem, carried through in one's genes & connectomes .
If we could think our way through bpd, then we should be able to think our way through cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, leukemia. Get the analogy? Unfortunately, no we can't, at least at this time. But cognitive behavioral therapy has been an effective adjunct to medication.

Close to 100% of my bipolar and chronicle depressed patients tested positive for MTHFR 677 &/or 1298. Test free through Health Diagnostics Laboratory with regular insurance. Treatment is covered by most insurance with just supplements: L-methyl folate (avoid regular folic acid, or enriched grains), P5P, & methyl cobalamin + more made by Bellevue pharmacy! PM me if you have ?? :)

In brief: Bipolar
Some studies have shown people with untreated bipolar are functional in life at a chance of 30 to 40 % and also suicide rate is highest in bipolar most bipolar patients need atleast 2 to 4 meds for long term stabilization.
First make sure the diagnosis is acccurate and please get second opinion.

No. One cannot think his/her way out of Bipolar disorder since it is a biologically-based illness.

Bipolar is a serious condition--yet one that many scientists consider to have some evolutionary advantages.
It is a permanent state of the human nervous system. Most people with this condition strongly resist medication, especially when young (as happens with diabetes, too). The proper balance of medication plus psychotherapy can greatly enhance the course of life. Many very successful people it.
