Usually chondromalacia patellae is usually the results of the patella ( sesamoid bone, or bone between a tendon and a ligament) mistracking over the patello-femoral groove.
It is common in people with "kock knees, ."genu valgus." this means more common in women. In thiscase it is dengerative. Exercises and nsaids are useful, particularly the former. It can also be caused by the spondyloartritis!
