Does the herpes simplex virus survives in make-up like mascara and eyeliner forever or will it die after a while?

Huh? I've never heard of herpes in masacara? Why would herpes get into mascara in the first place? Unless you rubbed mascara wand over a cold sore or a genital sore? This is a question that, i believe, is beyond scientific explanation. If you're at all worried, however, why not throw out the mascara and/or eyeliner and start with a new one?
