HOCM. It is HOCM. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. If symptomatic it starts with medication including betablockers, calcium chanel blockers, or dysopiramide. Interventions include alcohol septal ablation or myectomy.
HOCM. Hypertrophic (obstructive) cardiomyopathy is abnormal thickening of the heart muscle which may interfere with normal function of the heart. If suspected, patient should be evaluated by a cardiologist. Based on severity, symptoms, findings on echo and risk factors, cardiologist may recommend medical therapy and/or further therapy such as defibrillator, or occasionally septal ablation or surgery.
