In brief: Rehab is long

You will typically feel better in a matter if weeks but your hip will be stiff.
You have to protect the repair while it heals. Typically 8 weeks. Then you have to continue to work on motion and strengthening. Over the next 1-2 months full recovery at 6 months or so.

In brief: Depends

You could wait depending on the severity or frequency of your symptoms.
Physical therapy and strengthening can be helpful. Rehab period can vary depending on the exact surgical procedure. Allow about 6 months for full functional recovery.
