Can I take the emergency contraceptive pill twice within same week?

Yes. The morning after pill is actually quite safe and it can be used as often as it is needed. Emergency contraception is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex; best taken within first 3 days; but can provide protection up to 5 days so you can use it twice in one week. Using emergency contraception doesn't prevent pregnancy as well as methods you use before or after sex.

I have had unprotected sex and wondering if I can take the combined pill microgynon 30 as an emergency contraceptive pill?

Emergency contracept. In theory yes - since they both contain 150micrograms of Levonorgestrel with the microgynon also containing 30 mcg of ethynil estradiol. However, the side effect profile will be different than Plan B since there is the estradiol component. In a pinch you could use the microgynon but I know of no studies showing the efficacy. You need to use it before 72 hours. Good luck. Read more...
