How common of a complication is sepsis with rocky mountain fever?

Uncertain how common. Information on the approximate percentage of rocky mountain spotted fever patients who get sepsis is hard to find. Nowadays, with antibiotic treatment, the rmsf fatality rate is 4%. A rough guess on the percentage with sepsis could be 20%-25%.
Unknown. There is no epidemiologic data on the rate of sepsis with rmsf; we think about 15-25% of those exposed become ill and of those who become about 0.5% die. It is not clear how many exposed persons become septic.
