My retinal doc told me today that doing a laser for lattice may precipitate traction even if there is negligible traction before the procedure. True?

Second opinion. Lattice is nature's way of tacking down the retina to lower the incidence of detachment at a weak point. Laser would only be need if the retina shifts at that point or a hole seems to be coming on. Laser should not add to that risk but should be helpful. If your doc said the risk would increase, then that is a good indication for getting a second opinion on the need for this.
