In brief: Personal choice

I think if it is going to be done it should be done in the newborn period with a local anesthetic.
The infants often sleep through the procedure, it heals within a week and rare if any problems are encountered. Older kids or adults need a general anesthesia, sutures and slower healing. No= more uti's starting under a month of age, higher risk of std, entrapped glans.

In brief: No medical benefit

Foreskin is there to protect the glans just as the clitoral hood does the same for the clitoris.
There was a study done to determine whether a block helped or not and it was stopped for ethical reasons prior to the end of the study due to pain indicator scores. This is a volatile topic and all information pro and con should be combed through carefully prior to subjecting your child to a circ.
