Can you have a cytology done to see if there are cancer cells in urine?

In brief: Yes, but...

Many cancers do not shed their cells into the urine.
The decision to pursue a further workup in the absence of a positive urine cytology is your physician's, with your input of course. If i had new hematuria, i'd have imaging even with negative cytology. Good luck.

In brief: CA cells in urine

Yes actually you can.
Your urologist can have you collect the urine and will general have to send it to a pathologist who specializes in looking at urine.
