In brief: Cafe-au-Lait Spots:

Characterized by increased # of melanin pigment on skin giving a tan/light brown in white, dark brown in black children.
Approx. 10% of children have these spots, 1-3 cafe-au-lait spots are common/normal. If large, needs further eval to rule out other association. Better not to use color fading agent/cream at her age. If too much concern about the color, talk to her pediatrician or dermatologist.
