In brief: Poison ivy

There is very little difference in the reactions caused by poison ivy and poison oak.
Both typically require 10 or more days of oral steroids followed by a steroid taper (a 13 day Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pak is a reasonable choice). See your pcp for this.
