Please help! What is the strength of roxanol (morphine) compared to hydrocodone?

No easy answer. Even in the modern immediate-release forms, morphine is poorly absorbed in many people, broken down by stomach acid/enzymes and taken out in "first pass" through the liver. Conventional wisdom is 5 mg of hydrocodone is equivalent to 7.5 mg of morphine orally, and 2.5 mg of morphine if given by injection. There is a lot of individual variation, and equivalency tables are often wrong and dangerous.
