Arteriosclerosis. It can not increase blood flow, if it causes obstruction then it causes decreased blood flow distal to the obstructing lesion.
I'm curious as to what effects will atherosclerosis and arteriosclerosis have on peripheral resistance, blood flow, and blood pressure?
Bad combination. Atherosclerosis/arteiosclerosis is a progressive disease of the arterial system that ultimately results in arterial wall hardening and luminal (phenobarbital) occlusion. Basically the artery stiffens and closes off. As the arteries get stiffer and more narrow from accumulating disease, blood flow through the the vessel decreases and peripheral resistance/pressure within the vessel inceases. It's a bad combination.
