In brief: Depends on dose

Vicodin and generics come in 5 mg/325mg (tylenol (acetaminophen)) doses, in which case the recommended dose is usually 1-2 every 4 hours as needed.
There is also a 7.5 mg and 10 mg hydrocodone strength (the fda is now requesting no more than 325 mg of tylenol (acetaminophen) in any pill), in which the recommended dose is one tablet (not two) every 4 hours as needed.
