Had a patent ductus repair in sept of 1980 no records of metal used. Hospital did MRI anyway. Is it possible it damaged my heart.

Even if a stainless steel clip was used these are only slightly impacted by the magnetic fields commonly used in MRI today.
In addition, the length of time (30 years) further supports a stabilized position of the clip. You should have had no negative effects of the mri.
