In brief: Many things

Testosterone replacment after menopause can help with libido, focus, concentration, increasing muscle mass and bone mass.
When you have too much it can increase acne, oily skin, result in unwanted hair, and changes in cholesterol. It is an off label use and usually integrated physicians and age management physicians use often rather than traditional medicine.

In brief: Integrative?

I have used it for women for years, giving them a free vouchers for them to "give to there husband, whose consent i have.
" they must complain of low libido, or asked about it in the face of a free and total t measurement. Then i remeasure within two weeks. If it is high normal or slightly elevated, i yet to see problems. Most women appreciate this!

In brief: Yes, many reasons

Many women, not necessarily older, take testosterone for reasons similar to men b/c low t leads to fatigue, depression, loss of libido, inability to lose fat and/or gain muscle, etc.
T also increases bone density & reportedly improves cognitive function. But as w/men, excess t is also harmful w/baldness, excess facial hair, virilization, clitoromegaly, permanent lowering of voice, acne & more.

I don't recommend oral T for either men or women. Topical products intended for men are much too strong (same goes for axillary & buccal products). Injectable T for men is too concentrated for little am't required by women. T supplement for women is typically individualized at/by compounding pharmacy.
