How do you know if you have a dislocated shoulder?

1 doctor agrees

In brief: Severe pain

A shoulder dislocation is extremely painful and results in inability to move the shoulder joint at all.
You might note a cavity/ groove over shoulder region where the dislocation has occurred. It can still be difficult to differentiate a dislocation from a fracture therefor an X Ray may be needed to confirm this.
