I get hives 2-3 times a year for unknown reasons. How do you get rid of hives permanently?

Chronic hives. Ideally, finding the cause of the hives is your best bet. Most cases of hives will remit over time. However, 20% of cases will remain for more than 1 year and half of these will be gone within 10 years. Thankfully, most cases are amenable to treatment/ suppression with antihistamines.
Hives are incurable. There is no treatment that will cure hives so they will not recur. In 90% of cases an md who has expertise in treating hives can control hives so they do not occur while on medication but if the medication is stopped the hives will recur. Most people who have recurring hives for over 6 weeks do not have an identifiable cause for their hives.
