Bowel obstruction symptoms and treatment, what to do?

If truly obstructed. this can be a medical emergency and needs diagnosis immediately and prompt treatment initiation. Go to the ER if you can't be seen today by your doctor.
Seek pro advice. Symptoms include nausea/vomiting, abdominal distention. Inability to pass flatus and possibly stool. This can be diagnosed with an abdominal Xray and treatment includes bowel rest and nasogastric decompression which usually resolve non-operatively. Concerning symptoms would be fever, severe abdominal pain/tenderness which should prompt further diagnostic studies, possibly emergent surgery.
