In brief: Ebola - Plague

The Plague was spread by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis.
Ebola is spread by a virus. Although there are differences in symptoms - they both can be quite lethal. Thank goodness that Ebola doesn't have airborne spread as the Plague did.

In brief: Totally different

Ebola is a virus spread by direct contact from an infected person to a new victim. The plague is due to a bacterium which is usually spread by rats and fleas.
Ebola is not the cause of the plague.

In brief: No

I've seen the "pop" claims that the epidemics in the 1300s were something else, and they don't fit.
In 2011 we found the plague bacillus in the old mass graves from the era. Ebola spreads best by direct blood contact and is unlikely to become an urban epidemic disease, though it's a likely bioterror weapon. See http://www.Sciencedaily.Com/releases/2011/08/110829173751.Htm.
