In brief: Reasonable conclusn

Although an MRI might pick up such a subtle injury it is hard to get and seldom necessary.
If the exam suggests a growth plate injury or minor crack not visible on x-rays, some splint the injury and repeat x-rays a week or so later when bone healing signs will show up and make diagnosis more specific.

In brief: Depends

Sometimes small cracks do not show up on regular x-rays if there is no displacement (change in position of the fractured piece relative to the rest of the bone) until there is some healing activity (i about a week) but modern ct scanners are very sensitive for imaging bone and any significant fracture will show up immediately.
Disruption along a growth plate will not be seen if not displaced.
