Ingrown toe nails cut out 5 weeks ago. On cipro (ciprofloxacin) 7 days. Toes red, swollen throbbing. Now on clindamycin (3rd day) not better. Is it phenol acid burn?

No good for 5 weeks. For being five weeks down the road, you should not be dealing with pain, redness or weeping at this point. If you're soaking and applying ointments, stop. Bacteria like wet, weepy environments. Apply iodine and expose to open air and allow the drainage to occur. Do not cover. Consider seeing the podiatrist, if done by a podiatrist. Hard to know if just burn yet. Probably not. Dry site up.
Problem. Cipro (ciprofloxacin) was not the best choice of antibiotic as it has no gram positive coverage. Toenail infections are usually staph infections. Clindamycin is a better choice. 5 weeks is a long time. Perhaps, there is a nail spicule still left? Baseline x-rays should be performed. Culture of any drainage should be done to see what bacteria is causing the problem. Follow closely with your doctor.
