If you ride in groups, follow safety rules and wear helmets, cycling is a fun and safe exercise option.
Many avid cyclists are seniors. However, it will not prevent osteoporosis so a walking program would be a good compliment.

Cycling of all styles (mountain, trail, road touring, beachcruising) have real and tangible risks.
The risks of head injury (significantly less with helmets!) and broken bones are the same for all ages, whether you are 2 or 102. The risks of not exercising, however, are much greater. High blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, etc, etc. Consider stationary bicycling at home or the gym at least!
