In brief: When they grow ok

Often babies go thru variations in their feeding volumes but a simple rule is baby can take up to half their poundage as a feeding.
(10lb=5oz). More or less at a given feed is ok.If your baby is wetting diapers every 4-6 hrs and filling out, things are going well. Your doctor can verify normal growth at checkups. Try not to confuse their reflex sucking activity after feeds as a need to feed more.

In brief: Your baby knows best

Most babies know better than we do what their bodies need to grow.
As long as you burp her frequently during the feeding, she will eat the right amount. Don't get hung up on averages published in books/websites. I have seen growing newborns who only wanted 1 1/2 ounces and others who needed 8.
