Before you are pregnant you should be tested to see if you have immunity to rubella (german measles), varicella (chicken pox, and also causes shingles) and be immunized for these diseases to reduce the risk of contracting them while pregnant, if non-immune.
You should also be immunized against pertussis (whooping cough) as well.
