In brief: Most are ok
Most antibiotics are safe for the kidneys.
The most toxic antibiotic to kidneys is gentamicin. This antibiotic falls into a category of drugs called aminoglycosides. If these drugs have to be use their levels should be followed very closely. In addition, penicillin cephalosporins and quinolones such as Ciprofloxacin can cause allergic reactions leading to kidney decline.
