People often mistake flank pain for kidney disease, but kidney disease rarely manifests as chronic pain.
Your pain could be due to benign problems with structures near the kidney such as muscle or bone. A more serious scenario would be a tumor of the kidney or of the adjacent structures such as a sarcoma. Imaging of the area with ct scan or ultrasound will be necessary to rule these out
