I have recently had a stress test and been diagnosed with signes of heart disease/blockage I am on 40 mg statins' what herbal supplementvcan you advis?

CoQ10 ; O-3's! Coq10 is a great anti-oxidant that can helps prevent muscle pain that can be caused by high-dose statins. I am + for the slco1b1 (statin myopathy gene) so i take 60mg bid. With cardiac risk, also good to take flaxseed oil 1g 2 in am, and epa/dha essentials 2 in pm (i prefer pure encapsulations brand--pharmacy grade products). Most supplements do not have what they claim they do--not worth buying.

Although I have several signs of heart disease and a positive stress test, I feel totally denial about it. I cant accept it. Is this common?

Denial. Denial is a very common emotion whether heart disease or other. You should talk with your doctor and gain a good understanding of what your heart problem is and what needs to be done about by you and by the Doc. If you can get yourself involved actively in taking care of yourself and trying to improve your situation, the denial could be turned into a positive force for life improvement and health. Stress test is positive for exercise inducted ischemic heart disease. What does this mean?

Positive stress. A stress test is generally done to determine if heart disease symptoms are related to actual heart disease. Sometimes people at risk for heart disease, but being prepared for stressful procedures like surgery, will have a stress test done. If a stress test suggests ischemic heart disease, generally, further evaluation, like a heart cath, should be done to confirm its presence. Read more...

Prevention. Hi. You must have some risk we are not aware of (e.g., family history?). Your only stated cardiac risk factor is high blood pressure. A woman at age 41 does not have an a priori increased risk for cardiac disease. However, aspirin 81 mg/d has essentially no risk (statisticians will disagree). Your naproxen is a higher risk (gut and heart). A strong case cannot be made in either direction. Good luk. Read more...

Calcium score. It would be extremely unlikely that you have coronary artery disease after your extensive work up. Rare but can happen. Hi, Absence of risk factors and normal stress test and echo put you at a low-risk for CHD and MI.
