If no trauma could just be muscles where they insert on the skull from the neck that are irritated try massage heat stretching and nsaids also could be a nerve irritated that should respond to an injection if its localized to one side of the posterior or back of of skull it needs to be evaluated if continuing by pmr dr or neurologist.
