In brief: More likely

The more premature a baby is, the higher the risk for learning, behavior, or attention problems.

In brief: How Premature?

Depends on how premature the baby was, the circumstances of the birth itself and how the infant progressed after birth.
Prematurity does not always equate with a disability.

In brief: Sure

They can also be normal or bright.
If their birth/NICU course is complicated we worry about outcome but most of the survivors do pretty well. My smallest survivor, 14 oz @ birth just graduated from the Honors program at Baylor a few years ago. Prepare for whatever outcome comes, but don't give up on these babies.

In brief: Yes

There is an increase in incidence of learning problems among prematurely born infants than full term infants.
Fortunately there are services available to assist these children in school.
