In brief: Autism increasing

Study released last week showed autism affects one in 88 children(up from 1 in 110).
Because of the increase more people are aware and want more research. Autism community is active in the media.

The obvious question is whether the rate is actually up or it is just being diagnosed and named more.

In brief: Autism Prevalence

So many studies are being done now due to the prevalence of autism dx.
Not only it is a neurodevelopmental disorder, it is also caused by other diseases like congenital rubella, cytomegalic d. And other problems.

It is in media everyday ,as we are diagnosing more kids with develepmental disorders as autistic and the spectrum has widened, there is more publicity and demand for more got. funding for treatment and research. So the studies will keep going on and more therapies started early, including early intervention, special education and suppor for more research is inevitable

In brief: Increased interest

Recently reports of increasing incidence of autism has spurred increased support for autism research.
It is unlikely that the numbers reflect an increase in the nincidence but redefining individuals with other diagnoses.
