Vitreous floater. The clear gel that fills eyeball is normally attached to the back of the eye. As we get older it can become more liquid (watery) and detaches from the back of the retina causing a floater of compressed gel or a weiss ring where it was attached to the back of the retina. Flashes can indicate a retinal tear. You should see your eye for worsening flashes floaters for a change in your side vision.
