Can someone explain to me what are uterine fibroids there for, and why you have to remove them?

In brief: Clonal tumors

Fiboids or leiomyomata are almost always benign tumors.
They start as a single cell from the cell line producing uterine muscle. They clone themselves and grow. Concentrically like an onion. There is no purpose we have identified for them. They only need to be removed if they cause symptoms--heavy bleeding, pain, pressure, infertility. Most are asymptomatic.
