For the first couple of days after the brackets and wires are placed, your teeth may be tender. You may want to take 800 mg of ibuprophen before the appointment and use as needed after for the first few days.

Teeth will literally feel a little loose. 2-3 days for kids, 2-3 weeks for adults. Try 1 (kids) to 2 (adults) 200mg advil/motrin/ibuprofen every 4 hours w food or liquids, rinse w 1tsp salt in 8 oz warm water 3x/day, cover "stickers" w orthodontic wax, dab orabase-b onto sore spots w q-tip, keep mouth clean, and eat soft high- protein diet.
