In brief: What age

Fluoride should be monitored carefully in children.
It's brushing tha removes bacteria from teeth, not toothpaste. Despite what you see in toothpaste ads (they're trying to sell product) a pea sized portion of toothpaste is sufficient. Review Fluoride (which wonderfully helps prevent tooth decay) with your dentist, but don't be afraid of it.

In brief: Very much!

I am not sure what you mean by overdose however you would have to swallow a very large amount of toothpaste to have an adverse reaction.
You would probably vomit if you swallowed too much.

In brief: Not a lot

Most people don't read the label and the toothpaste companies promote overdosing in their commercials. The instructions say to use a pea size amount .Not the inch long amount with the curly end.Too much Fluoride causes constipation acutely.Fluoride has been implicated in various other conditions. After brushing, rinse with water and spit.
