I have erythromycin ointment for eyelid lump and redness. Should this go in the eye? She said just to cover eyelid to base of lashes. Is this right

In brief: Chalazion

Best easy approach is to apply dry hot compress to the eye lid for 5-10 min then apply the ointment inside the lower eye lid.
The body temperature will melt it and it will go where it needs to go. Do this 4 times a day. If it is not resolved within 5-7 days it may need to be treated with minor surgery. The compresses may work equally effective without the ointment.
