In brief: Little or no salt
Too much salt intake will greatly increase your risk of acute heart failure.
It does so by raising your blood pressure, increasing your circulating blood volume and raising your renin level, therby making your heart work harder, increasing the oxygen demand of your heart muscle and raising the pressures inside your left ventricle. No more than 1.5 grams of salt consumed per day.
