In brief: Surgery
The majority of the time, in an active healthy person surgery is done to repair the torn edges of the tendon.
Casting is usually reserved for patients who could not tolerate a surgery.

In brief: Torn achilles tendon
A ruptured achilles is the same as a torn tendon.
Based on the patient non-surgical (casting) and surgical options (tendon repair) exist.

Complete rupture in athletes and younger patients are often managed surgically.

In brief: Tear
It is a tear of the tendon at the back of the leg and heel.
Depending on the sepaeration between the two ends of the tendon it could be fixed by immobilization and casting of the leg & foot or surgical repair of the tendon.

In brief: Torn. Cast v Repair.
The achilles tendon aka heel cord connects your calf muscles to heel bone.
Rupture=tear. Treatment can be nonoperative (casting/bracing/gradual mobilization) or surgical (open vs percutaneous repair). Nonop tx avoids morbidity of surgery. Surgical tx has lower rerupture rate+better strength and endurance. See a sports med/foot+ankle specialist re what is best for you. Rehab for both is lengthy.

In brief: Torn calf tendon
Torn achilles refers to the tendon that comes from the calf muscle and inserts on the posterior inferior heel.
It usually ruptures about 6cm above the heel. The rupture is like a torn rope. It needs to be reattached with suture to heal and become one again.
