How common are swallowing disorders in the us?

Frequent. Disorders causing swallowing disorders are strokes, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, parkinson's disease, amyotropic lateral sclerosis, cerebral palsy and huntington's disease. Please consult your doctor for an evaluation.
Frequent. Many patients have reflux esophagitis, especially so in patients who are overweight (fat or obese). True pathologic reason to have difficulty swallowing are less common.
