”, etc. As an Ex: a pt w/ PTSD wishes to verify that their trauma at age 10 caused their PTSD for their personal healing. The journey would be quite different than if the pt asked a legal question. More info would be helpful to assist you-perhaps, speaking with your psychiatrist and therapist re: this?

No, it can't be proved that sexual abuse as a child directly causes mental illness.
However, studies have clearly shown that any type of abuse, including sexual, increased the likelihood of mental illness later in life.
