I have irritable bowel syndrome, is there a cure?

Control. Diet high in fiber, controll of the triggering event and consider treatment to improve the intestinal seratonin. There is some evidence supporting ibs as partially caused by aby serationin receptors in the GI tract . Treatments vary but controlling triggers and stress help control this. Some people have target organs for stress some have headache, stomach pain and some ibs.
Diet and fluids. And probiotics seem to help if patient is compliant. Eat a high fi=ber diet, regular meal times and portions and drink 80-100 oz of caffeine free, alcohol free fluid daily.

I have irritable bowel syndrome and I eat healthy. Any cure?

Depends. Eating healthy is only part of the solution, be sure you are drinking 80-100 oz of nonalcoholic, non caffeinated fluids daily, 20 oz extra for every 30 minutes of strenous activity, and 20 ounces more per hour of airplane travel. And if your diet is high in fiber, do not take fiber supplements. Good luck. Read more...

Could you tell me what are cures for irritable bowel syndrome?

None. In order to cure a disease, doctors first need to know cause. Cause of ibs is unknown. Donnatal (phenobarbital atropine hyoscyamine and scopolamine) & Bentyl are prescription medications with known efficacy. Imo ibs is a functional problem caused by impingement of parasympathetic neural system within the pelvic presacral plexus. Pelvic girdle dysfunction from hypermobility is the culprit. There is no easy repair for this biomechanical problem. Read more...

My father has recently been diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). What foods and therapies can u suggest to cure this?

Stress reduction. Since the cause for ibs is unknown (some studies showed that people with ibs has lower pain threshold in the bowel) but stress is considered an important factor, stress reduction (meditation?) would be the first step. A high fiber diet and regular exercise may also help. There are medications to reduce the symptoms but you will need a doctor since response to drugs vary from person to person. Read more...
