IBS. Yes, women are more susceptible to irritable bowel syndrome than men, however no one knows why. There are three types of ibs: predominant diarrheal type, predominant constipational type and a mixture of diarrhea and constipation alternating.
Yes. There is a higher rate of IBS in females for unknown reasons.
Multifactorial cause. Irritable bowel syndrome is the multifactorial consequence of hormonal, immune system and nervous system dysfunction resulting from genetic predispositions and dietary and environmental insults. The predominant symptoms like diarrhea cramps constipation are the result of autonomic nervous system instability. Estrogen increases parasympathetic tone & can make ibs worse.
I am a 64 year old woman, and my doctor has diagnosed me as having irritable bowel syndrome. What can I do?
R/O other diseases. Make sure you don't have celiac disease or colon cancer, then start trying stopping various foods to see if by trial and error you can find a diet that decreases the symptoms.
I am 27 years old female and 156 CM and 43 kilogram I was suffering from irritable bowel syndrome and now I have pain heart and dizzines what isreason?
Without more. Information I always recommend a patient with chest pain to be check by a physician. A good history and physical needed for a better assessment and recommendation. At your age I doubt heart condition, but better check to be sure.
None. In order to cure a disease, doctors first need to know cause. Cause of ibs is unknown. Donnatal (phenobarbital atropine hyoscyamine and scopolamine) & Bentyl are prescription medications with known efficacy. Imo ibs is a functional problem caused by impingement of parasympathetic neural system within the pelvic presacral plexus. Pelvic girdle dysfunction from hypermobility is the culprit. There is no easy repair for this biomechanical problem.
IBS explained. Irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) is a condition associated w/ abdominal discomfort, altered /alternating stool pattern, accompanying nausea, bloating, gassiness. Often improved by stooling, ibs is defined by changes in perception of gut distension, motility, sensation. Diet & emotional stress play significant roles here in such patients. Need to rule out first inflammation, ischemia, & infection.
IBS. There is really no specific test for irritable bowel syndrome at this time. It is a diagnosis of exclusion. In-other-words, you have certain symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and/or constipation. A multitude of tests are done and nothing is found. What you can do is alter your diet and see if it helps. For example; eliminate wheat and/or dairy. Good luck!
