In brief: Weight for length

We usually refer to a weight for length chart for babies and young toddlers.
This helps to put the proportions into perspective.

In brief: Growth curve

If height for weight is proportional, then things are probably ok.
However, if the weight is disproportionately off the curve compared to height, or if the weight has been going up faster than the curve then there might be a problem. Around age 2 years, we start to add bmi into the mix, and you'll have a better idea of exactly how things are going. Talk with your doc about what the numbers mean.
