Can we take hep b vaccine after booster dose?

Confusing question. You can take a hep b vaccine under most any circumstances. I would not take it within 4-6 weeks of taking a significant amount of Prednisone or similar drug, as it would weaken or impair the response. It can be taken with another vaccine or in the same time period.

I am a medical student I have had my hep b vaccine when I was 4 now my AB titer is 6 should I take a booster dose and if what are its risks.?

Another series. is recommended if your your AB titer is less than 10, given that you are a med student and there is a potential for exposure as a healthcare professional later on, take the whole series at 0, 1 and 6 months, if you want to measure the titers, do so at least 2 months after the last dose, take care. Would getting 40 mcg (two x 20 mcg) booster dose of hep. B vaccine likely prolong surface antigenemia longer compared to receiving only 20 mcg?

Possibly. The incidence of hbsag positivity after hbv vaccination with recombinant hbsag is low and depends on the assay being used. In one study, 5% of vaccinated blood donors tested positive one day later using 20 mg dose but negative at 3 days. They cited one example of a 40 mg recipient that was positive at 5 days. The recommendation is to delay blood donation up to one week after hbv vaccination. Read more...

I am med student, I had hep b vaccine as a child 20 years ago now my AB titer is below 10, do I have to take a booster or start a whole new series?

Up to you & doctor. Years ago, the recommendation was 1 booster shot. Now it is 1 booster series (3 shots). The idea is to raise the antibody level, and then it will come down over the years (and one can retest in the future). One shot won't raise the level as high as 3 shots will, meaning one may retest sooner after 1 shot than after 3 shots. It's not an exact science. Each person's antibody responses are different. After the initial 3 injections Hep B vaccine how many years after is a booster required for travel in a country where Hep B is prevalant?

No booster needed. Booster vaccination is not considered necessary and not recommended for hepatitis B virus. Even though measurable antibody levels decline over the years, people who have had the complete 3 dose vaccine series do not get HBV infections. Read more...

I only hd 2 dse hep B vacc 4 yrs ago. Now my anti hbs titer is only 30 (cut off value is 10). Do I need to get a third dose or just a booster vaccine?

Same thing. Booster and third dose of HBV vaccine are the same thing. Even though your blood test shows you are protected, probably for life, getting the final dose still is recommended. Read more...
