What could be the cause of a feeling of numbness on top of my left knee?

In brief: Nerve

If you inadvertently 'bumped' your knee or have been on your knees washing a floor etc.
U can irritate the knee bursa and sometimes the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve. This will cause an area of numbness on'top ' of the knee or just below the kneecap.Usually transient, it should resolve spontaneously in next few wks. If it doesn't see pcp. Gl!
